Quesiton is simple... Please don’t turn it into a shit show... :)

Kinja'd!!!

France: (I’m french) The fact that money, making money is seen sort of badly. If you’re successful many poeple think it’s because you’ve done something bad at some point. You don’t pull lot of cash out of your wallet to pay something, you don’t talk about money, how much you earn...etc. Money is taboo and that’s really stupid!

Japan: (I live in Japan) Zombies. Japanese people seem like zombified when it comes to political problems or problems in general. They have a “Shoganai” (which translates by “well, that sucks... c’est la vie!!”) way of thinking that is borderline unbearable. If something is wrong, unjust, they won’t do shit about it. “Shoganai”. I don’t know if it’s stupid TV shows making them like that, but damn people, react, fight!! WAKE THE FUCK UP!! (Japanese people are usually pretty awesome and nice when taken one at a time. As a society... it’s “different”)

So, where do you come from? What about your country? What is it that you can’t stand??

The rude people, government overreach, the NSA, the TSA, the uninformed/lazy people in terms of voting/getting out and voting, the uprising of people demanding something in exchange for nothing (not to be confused with helping those who can’t help themselves; we should help them/be compelled to help them, but we are a selfish society).

I’ve been to many countries at this point and although we aren’t the rudest, our arrogance and political leaders perpetuate that perception.

If I had to cut this list down to 2 though, the NSA and TSA .

Edit, United States of America.

Political stupidity and overall stupidity of much of the population of the USA gets me down. The fact that people think their lives in the US are OK when in fact facets of their life would be considered unthinkable poverty in the EU or other places. Specifically medical care, schooling and social services in the USA are downright scary when compared to other places.

Here in Belgium a chunk of the taxes are too high, the local governments (communes) are ineffective and the bureaucracy is horrid. If there was less bureaucracy and better value for the crazy taxes, it would be worth it. Less people would cheat the system; there’d be less bribary and less cash payments to avoid the 21% VAT. Generally stuff here is more expensive, and not just due to taxes; the large retailers take advantage of this country for some reason. Car batteries, house paint, basic foods, etc all cost quite a bit more than even in France or the UK with no real explanation!

I’m from the United States. I could go on and on about the things I hate but currently I have more qualms with my state of North Carolina. Recently the State Legislature has passed House Bill 2 which over turns many anti-discrimination laws, particularly for the LGBTQ community. This in it’s self is sad, and a step backward for what once was a southern progressive state.

Since the bill has passed numerous other states have boycotted official travel to the State and have discouraged people from visiting. Also several businesses planning to expand into North Carolina have pulled out due to the Bill. Apple, PayPal, and NovoNordisk to name a few.

Governor Pat McCrory is still defending the bill and refuses to compromise.

TL;DR: NC is backwards, headed towards an economic disaster all because our Government is scared of the LGBTQ community.

NSA isn’t just a domestic spying agency. That is only a part of what they do. If you know anyone that has ever been deployed overseas, the NSA has helped to keep them alive and given them support and the ability to do their job effectively. I’m not on here to stump for NSA, but it’s grossly inaccurate to state that all NSA does is look at you texting dick pics to women on Tinder.

America, hate that our country is so stubborn and does not want to even attempt to implement policies that have already shown to be successful in other countries. Things like health care. And I have a great example for this one. I take ADD meds, have for 20 years. Federal policy changes that began in 2015 require me to take 2 drug test a year, to make sure I’m not on other stimulants (since my ADD meds are a stimulant). No big deal, except my doctor switched the company he was using drug testing this year and I received a bill for $898, FOR A DRUG TEST. The original cost was $1,280, insurance picked up a bit and I’m on the hook for the remainder. For one frickin drug test. That kind of price gouging doesn’t happen in countries with universal health care

The fear of the LGBTQ community is almost comical to me. Its the same as the fear of black people by white people in their 60s. Its like, “You’re gay? Get away from me. If you’re around me then maybe I’LL become gay.” Or the “He is black so he is probably going to rape and pillage.” I remember when I was a little kid and my parents would say, “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” Good thing though is that this generation seems to be on the right track.

Bill Gates or Warren Buffet are like this. I think at some point you have so much money that you start to value other things like your legacy more than anything material. They move on to Social Equity in a sense.

Brazil. Corruption of the government in general, that managed to bankrupt an oil company that was the 28th largest company in the PLANET at one point, called Petrobrás.

Nearly 1 TRILLION dollars were stolen.

Climate? Between 25C and 45C, with humidity varying between 15% and 105%. 10C is the deepest winter. Most homes have no heat, so it feels -10C at all times when it gets really cold.

Roads? There are few roads around the potholes. Broken rims and slashed tires by potholes are not unheard.

Taxes? England levels - around 40% of income.

Services? Gana level, which are zip. People die in girdles in hospital corridors waiting for medical care.

Prices? Due the taxes, you are paying for a Mercedes AMG and getting a moped. 55% of the car price are taxes. A PS4 costs 1084 US dollars to import.

Laws? Only speed laws work, because radars are cheap and profitable. Most roads where you could travel at 50mph were limited to 30mph. No guns are allowed, but the murders with firearms by 100.000 people are 20 times larger than the USA where the population can legally have guns. People jump red lights past 1AM by being afraid of being robbed at the stoplight. You are choosing the be stolen by a robber or by the mayor, the fine for running a light is 135 dollars.

If it wasn’t for the corrupt government, all the other problems would be quickly fixed, except the climate, of course.

I’m not denying that the NSA has conducted surveillance on US citizens, both abroad and domestically, but I disagree with wanting them disbanded because of it. That is only a part of what NSA does. Would I like an NSA that gets real warrants for their surveillance work? Absolutely. But until our legislators actually make them do it, I will take the NSA we currently have.

Please show me where I said I wanted them disbanded. You have a real knack for placing words in mouths.

Good for you. Here is the title of the thread, in case you forgot ‘What do you hate the most about your country?’.

I absolutely love my Country. The State (Illinois) I’m in can eat a big bag of dicks. The idiot Democrat Governors from 2003-2015 and the great Michael Madigan on his throne as Speaker of the House have damn near bankrupted the state, have made it inhospitable to business owners and have made it extremely difficult for the “Middle Class”.

We finally get a Governor that’s worth a damn and BLAMMO! Stonewalling by the Dems who just want to keep spending money the state doesn’t have.

My apologies. I must have incorrectly assumed that because you hate the NSA and TSA that you would like to see their respective doors shuttered and windows boarded up. I tried to start a discussion that did not need to have a place in this thread. I apologize for that.

Winter

Kinja'd!!!

And Cost of living/life/work balance.

I love Canada but I hate that I earn a great salary but it is still just enough to get by.

I earn just about 3 times the minimum wage and work 50 hours a week just to be able to have a basic house and that would NOT be possible if my wife did not work as well.

I bought my house for $345,000 and that was $25k under the average price for my area. The mortgage + utilities is easily over $2200/month and out combined take home pay is under $4800/month. I keep hearing about these other countries where it seems the work/life balance is WAY better. I know the grass isn’t always greener on the other side but there has to be a better way than what I’m doing now.

I really feel for the folks who are only earning $15/hour. That would be a real tuff way to go in Alberta.

Another one for Canada: I hate having to fly to get anywhere in the world that isn’t the ‘States. Would love to go for a drive some day and see 3 or 4 countries just ‘cause. I guess that’s the trade-off for only having 4 people per km^2.

Well, there is your problem. You are in Alberta. Thx to petrol everything is more expensive on your side of Canada... I almost considered coming to work for a little while in Alberta due to very high wages... Btu everything is so damn expensive, that I didn’t do it... What’s the point of earning 100k$ a year if it costs 3000$ to rent an appartment in a place that would be considered the “middle of nowhere” everhywhere else on this planet.

I’m not sure about Calgary and how it works there (I only went there to ride a bull once lol), but states that live from high wages due to high petrol revenues are doomed to pay a lot for everything unfortuantely (ie: Norway)

Not necessarily representative of my country in general, possibly more my general area of it, but I hate that the roads fall apart every spring. Overland flooding washes them out, sweeps away bridges, the thawing frost turns road beds into muck and causes roads to slide down hills. There was one spring not too long ago where a 60 mile drive I took regularly had turned itself into 180 miles of back-tracking detours on muddy grid roads because so many roads and bridges were simply gone...

USA, jersey to be exact

My state is politiacally ass backwards sometimes but the worst thing about this state are the people (no offense to other Jersey Oppo’s, i love you guys). But seriously...people here are like New Yorkers just worse. Always in a rush, drive like shit, no sense of manners, rude, etc etc...
